La TRAVIATA di Giuseppe Verdi

Roman Theater - Benevento 2 August 2006 

The musical experience as a human and cultural heritage.

Based on the novel "the lady of the camellias" by Alexandre Dumas, the TRAVIATA debuted for the first time on March 6, 1853 at the Fenice in Venice.

The title originally conceived by Verdi was "Love and Death", it was considered too provocative and violent, not very costumer friendly for Venice at the end of the 19th century. It is not easy to talk about a genius of music. There is always the fear of trivializing, not saying enough or saying too much. Genius is confusing. And if that character is called Giuseppe Verdi, things get complicated. "LA TRAVIATA" is one of the master's undisputed masterpieces staged in the most famous theaters in the world. Yet her birth was not painless.

The TRAVIATA performed in scenic form in August 2006 in the suggestive Roman Theater of Benevento was entrusted to maestro Armellino, an internationally established Italian conductor who made his debut with the soloists of the San Carlo Theater in Naples.
